Do I need to move the swaybar for Trans mount R&R?
I have an 85 Carrera and while I"m changing the oil I thought I'd change the transmission mounts. Will they clear without dropping the swaybar on a Carrera? (trying to decide if I can complete it over lunch).
Thanks in advance. Also! What do i torque the bolt to? Mark |
Yes.
Obviously support the transmission, and remove the bar. I had to remove the transmission mount to get to my fuel lines to swap in Len's fuel lines. The anti-sway bar is not close to the area. |
The torque value is 18 ft lbs. (25Nm) lbs.
Too much, and the softer fixed nuts in the mount will strip, necessitating the two wrench removal method. (PITA) |
Thanks guys!

I'm a bit confused now. I read a few more threads about the transmission mount torque specs, and the 25 Nm torque is for the 2 smaller bolts that mount the transmission mount itself, right? The torque spec for the large bolt that goes through the center of the mount (through the rubber), that has to be torqued to more than 25 Nm, doesn't it? I see some threads saying 80 Nm for the large bolt. Can someone confirm this?
