Burnt gauges

I reinstalled my gauges the other day. Following the marks I made and a pic from the tech articles. When I got it all together and kicked the key on, the two red/blk wires that connect to a black bulb holder on the oil pressure combo gauge FRIED. So I quickly unhooked everything. No major damage except for the burnt up wires. My questions is:

What is the proper way to fix this and does anyone have a pic of the back of their gauges?

can't tell what model you have.. it's not listed under your signature...

so probably your red/black wires hit a ground behind the gauges somewhere.. the wire comes off the ignition switch, and is common to all the gauges, probably.. so you may have to inspect the whole red/black wire back to the ignition switch.. it's not fused from the switch.. it appears to be a big PIA.. better it happened while you were able to stop the possible car fire.. maybe you should do a complerely new wire and install a fuse..............Ron

Oh!.. OK, then I have colored factory wiring diagrams if you need them. but it's a brainless/tedious fix.. if you decide to not do the whole wire, at least install a 3 amp fuse off your ignition sw.
