turbo mount location different '77 vs '85?

I was test fitting my turbo last night on the newly installed '85 exhaust system and it appears that the mount from the front plate will not work. Was there a change in the turbo/muffler mount on post these exhaust sytems as well? It is off by maybe an inch. Thanks.

Len, what are the odds? I just installed an '85 exhaust system on my '77 engine. I did use the later turbo mount, because one of the mounting posts would not work, like you say. The later one uses only two posts instead of three to secure the turbo.

That's funny, but huh? Do you mean two instead of four? I am talking about the one that comes off the front plate and acts as a mount for both the turbo and the muffler. Is this the same one you are talking about? Mine mounts on all four of the studs coming out of the turbo. Also, is this piece readily available? Thanks.

Len, you could be right that it's four not three, I am having a little trouble remembering...but the mount is definitely different, and I can post pics of each if you like when I get home from work.

Len, here is the turbo mount I'm using that came with the Euro exchangers...but now that I look at it close up, I'm wondering if it's a factory piece. The welds are a little rough. I bought it used from a member here, so I don't know its history.

Now here is the stock piece off the '77 engine. I'm certain this IS a factory piece.

I don't know if this is of any help to you...let me know what you learn, as it sounds like we're working on similar things.

Yes, The bottom one is mine. Is anyone else able to chime in on whether or not this mount is a factory piece? Thanks alot for the pics. Didn't you buy that from Amac?

Heres what I know, the bottom picture looks to be the factory part, looks like the original on my '78. If you have upgraded your turbo to something like a K27 it will throw things off about 3/4", something to do with the turbo flange being thicker. I ended up doing the cut it in two, mount the two halves, line things up, and weld away....
