Window switch recommendations?

Morning guys,

I have a faulty window switch again.......garbage aftermarket replacement. All I could get at the time.

I did a search but didn't see any specific recommendations.

URO has been improving their game, or so I've read?

I guess the question is, should I buy the Porsche switch for $51 (I need 2) is it worth it or are they simply farming it out?

Anybody have experience. 'German', DYI, URO and OEM all make one I think.....

Thanks,

Scott

Switch.

Buy the factory switch.

What brand was the aftermarket switch that failed ?

This is an example of where I would make an exception for $15 aftermarket.
The part is dead simple, takes literally 1 minute to replace, and will not leave you stranded if it fails.

Back in 2018, my window switch died.

Dealer = $66
Aftermarket = $25/shipped.

Went on Ebay and found a used one salvaged for $12/shipped.

First one lasted 32 years,
I was willing to take a risk on a non-critical used part.
5 min replacement, so if it dies, not a big deal.

Always keep a spare in the glove.

I've replaced 2 in the last 5 or 6 years. Bought both from Pelican Parts. Cheap, easy fixes.

I took a switch apart once, and it’s nothing but a spring loaded DPDT switch. Some springs and metal contacts. I wonder if some contact cleaner may not repair many if these ‘bad’ switches?

Replaced both driver's door switches and the passenger door as well. Pass side on driver's door is now intermittent so time for another replacement. Initial driver's door unit replacements 15 years ago were Porsche and now going aftermarket and saving the $$$ as I did with the pass door unit.
Unfortunately, the leads are too short to pull the switch out so the card comes off and the hemostat comes out to get the last wire on. I will take the opportunity to do some" while I am in there stuff" - lube door hardware and window regulator, etc. Perhaps speaker replacement.....

Leads are long enough to not pull the door card. See the photo
