PMO contact

I'm trying to contact PMO re a set a manifolds and phenolic insulators for my 2.0. my magnesium ones have seem better days.
All I see is a fax number and they will ring back
Im in Australia looking for the correct parts and shipping etc.
There has to be an easier way.
Thanks Lyndon

Harpo 11-02-2020 01:02 PM

Nope, They are old school. Very difficult to get a hold of

Lyndon302 11-02-2020 01:09 PM

Great

Hx911 11-02-2020 01:14 PM

Yes, I found it best to actually visit Richard in Person .... and I am in Australia too :) but happened to be in Santa Monica a few times. Great products though, and he knows his stuff!
But it has been years since I dealt with them...

LJ851 11-02-2020 01:15 PM

Richard is very responsive to a fax request and you only have to fax him once...

Lyndon302 11-02-2020 01:16 PM

Thanks. Off to office works I go.
Lyndon

RRico 11-02-2020 04:21 PM

Geez, we havent had fax in my office for a few years...

Jonny042 11-02-2020 04:35 PM

There must be an app that you could use to get your cell phone to deliver a fax? Seems like a weird use of the technology....

Gordo2 11-02-2020 04:47 PM

Clewett Engineering

I recommend contacting Clewett Engineering if you are looking to buy PMO components.
I've bought PMO manifolds, phenolic spacers, gaskets and other PMO carb stuff through them in the past.

Good Luck

Richard is smart enough to not spend all his time on the phone rather than working on things. The fax will work just fine.

911 SLANT 11-02-2020 06:15 PM

I would order directly from Richard Parr at PMO. It will be cheaper for you. Clewett will mark it up. Order will come directly from PMO anyways. I went to PMO recently and purchased directly from Richard Parr. Very nice guy. He said you can fax or email him directly to place a order.

Lyndon302 11-02-2020 06:55 PM

Do u have his email
Lyndon

I've found Clewett's prices to be the same as those listed on the PMO website. https://www.pmocarb.com/parts.htm

Clewett seems to default to 2 day UPS unless otherwise specified - which can be pricy...

Mr. Richard Clewett is quite knowledgeable and helpful - has ensured that I'm getting the right parts on a few orders, and has assisted in setup & tuning.

Mr. Parr's a great reference & contact as well - but based on my understanding, he would prefer to steer sales though authorized retailers such as Clewett.

I've called and ordered some small, unique items directly from Mr. Parr (ex. small washers that go under the accelerator nozzles) - stuff that would require Clewett to call Parr for pricing etc.

Bottom line - I think you have a couple viable options,

I want to give a shout out to Larry at Weber Carb Parts, PMO Carburetors and Parts, Porsche Posters, engine oil testing as another option.

Customer service is top notch and he's a member here as well.

911 SLANT 11-03-2020 07:08 AM

I doubt that. I ordered some small items from Richard Clewett. There was a 50.00 mark up. I understand he's got to make some money, but not to make that much profit on parts that total 69.00

Gordo2 11-03-2020 07:15 AM

Have you tried to contact these guys recently? I e-mailed and called them in September - but they never responded. Was looking to buy a few PMO parts (gaskets).

Too bad - appears they are just south of me in Richmond, VA.

Yes I have. I purchased a bunch of stuff a few months ago.

I second this as I had a great experience with Larry!

Lyndon302 11-03-2020 12:55 PM

I have sent an email to the second address and all seems fine.
Also sent a fax.
Thanks for all your help.

Hi Dan,
I'm sorry you were unable to reach me - I'm disabled and getting to the phone is a challenge at times. True, I am in Chester - so we're neighbors! Unfortunately, I have very little in the way of inventory here but will be happy to help you with anything you need. I am a distributor for PMO and can have anything they sell drop shipped to you. It usually takes 3-4 days for parts to get from PMO to me using standard USPS. Unfortunately, like every else, PMO has been impacted by COVID and additional time must be allowed for parts. Please email me at Info@youroil.net and hopefully I'll be able to help you?

I look forward to hearing from you!

Im known for saying "I don't have fax where I live" And when asked where I live I say "2020"

Fax is stupid and a complete waste of time.

Gordo2 11-03-2020 03:37 PM

Thanks!

Gasket?

Mine are installed below the air filter base / on the surface of the carburetor top plate.

Possibly no difference for performance / fitment - but I've never seen the gasket installed as you have in the photo.

BTW - those carbs are works of beauty...

Gordo

Lyndon302 11-23-2020 03:17 PM

I've got a gasket top and bottom. As I've got lots of then. I can't see it doing any harm. If it is please let me know and I will remove them.
Lyndon

l_turn9 11-23-2020 03:40 PM

I have been asked this question a number of times, and after looking at many 40IDA diagrams, I have found none that show gaskets under the air horns. But, as you say, it doesn't seem they would do any harm.

I'm running a gasket under each air horn, but individuals, not the long one you show that goes under the plate. I think they came in my rebuild kit, though I bought other ones from a vendor. Makes sense as the tolerance between the air horns and air filter plate isn't exact. Seems like you would want all air coming through the velocity stack and not via the sides of the bottom of the air horn and air filter plate.

Also Larry (l_turn9) is great to deal with. I bought my PMO stuff through him.

I've also talked to Richard at PMO. Helpful and courteous.

At first it seemed odd that Richard wanted a fax

But now I get it: 1) written instructions. 2) can get stuff done. 3) call when at a natural break.

I Have his email and phone number, but I respect his business model.

I have bought many things from him, and he always called within a day of the fax. Normally that afternoon.

I can understand the fax issue too. But I think there are apps that do that now.
