Exhaust nuts & bolts...

What is recommended for replacing the bolts in the exhaust system flanges?

Basic steel or stainless steel?

Regular old steel. SS can bind/gall on itself on removal.

i like to use regular steel nuts..The only think out of ordinary i do is .I change them every year one by one so they do not get rusty..is a cheap solution to prevent the oxidation ...

I just replaced my steel muffler with a stainless Monty. There are some interesting threads in this forum about stainless. I suggest you read through them. I ended up using stainless bolts with silicon bronze nuts. Someone posted a chart showing how metals react to each other. The chart is very useful understanding how different metals interact.

The steel nuts and bolts I removed were SAE. They fit too tight. They were rusted. 3 came off with a hammer and a cheater bar. The last one fought me a bit.

Use a six point deep socket also.
Some thin wall nuts are 12mm, others are 13mm.

For my Cat Converter and Muffler hardware I used stainless steel bolts and silicon bronze nuts. They will never rust, seize or gall. In fact, over ten years later they still look like new. I had the Cat Converter off just recently and the hardware came off easily with hand tools.

Read elsewhere on here that Chris @ TurboKraft recommends allen head SS bolts with copper nuts and high temp antisieze. That's what I went with.
