THRASHED PAINT or CHARACTER?? Porsche 912 - Operation PRESERVE PATINA
I like my stuff clean.
signs of wear, fine, fair enough, I'm not 25 anymore either. but being clean and tidy is a sign of value awareness and respect towards yourself or the things you have, like and use. So I love what these guys from "I am detailing" did about that aged 912 with an obvious poor respray https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auOyYx-m5eM ![]()

Recently I saw a video with Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno addressing this same subject. Jerry had just bought an original non molested 356 with a tip from Leno. There was minor surface rust on the bumper and imperfections here and there. Obvi9usly Jerry could have had the car restored to concourse condition with no problem.
Jerry said he will go through the engine and mechanicals but leave the exterior alone. The reason being if you were driving this 356 in the early 70’s the car would probably have looked like it does now, not like it would look like with a concourse restoration.

This is fantastic. Respectful without being obnoxious. Kind of the same way we love leather jackets and boots with wear!
I have a white 77S that was originally brown and the white is ok but not great... While I'd love to do a bare metal repaint that's not in the cards right now and this gives me lots to think about! Thanks for sharing this!

The dry ice blasting is completely amazing. Anyone here have more experience with it?
