You have to ascertain weather it’s spark or fuel that you’re losing.

It sounds like not enough fuel, or maybe not enough fuel pressure.

Sounds like he is going to need a list of some kind, but I am not the best person to do this I admit.

Just tossing this out there, listing a few common things that can go afoul.

SPARK

1. Bad coil, usually the secondary winding

2. Bad electronic brain (blue box) CDI (may be black or silver)

3. Bad wires of some kind shorting out, and or lose connection

FUEL

1. Bad or dirty fuel pump and or filter with debris floating around and clogging it up.

My fuel pump went intermittently, car would start then shut down.

2. Bad or dirty fuel accumulator with debris floating around and clogging it up.

Change when changing fuel pump, at different ends of car but may have similar lifespans.

3. Clogged fuel injectors and or crushed fuel lines, visually inspect for problems.

AIR

1. Let's not forget all the vacuum lines, at least on a CIS car.

2. I had a different car once, and a vacuum line would slip off the carb from engine running vibration and stall the engine. Very much like a loose electrical connection.

3. Question is, what year 911sc Porsche Targa, has it been converted to carbs, is CIS or MFI?

.................................................. .................................................. ...

If anyone finds a better check list, please post a link to it.

This was just off the top of my head.

Isn't the ground strap to the engine known to cause issues?

Yes, this was my problem at about 120,000 miles?

Everyone probably has a new fuel pump by now, one of the easier projects if you ask me.
