Clock conversion
Anyone have the link to do this conversion? I read a thread here on Pelican where a guy used a AAA battery operated clock to replace the internals. He still used the hands and face of the original clock.

Was this easy to do?
|
I did it a long while ago. I had to Dremmel out a square for the new mechanism. I do not recall having to take out the glass.
|
why not replace the glass with one without a hole so it looks better, may as well remove the set needles too? Little things bug me so I dont intend to sound critical, just anal :-)

I would go for one of the newer AA battery continual movement clocks. (same size) Most of the ones for sale have the ratcheting second hand instead. And maybe that is what NY's clock is...can't tell. |
I will probably go with a new glass without hole. Something like this is what I'm going for.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1604673001.jpg

How do you set a clock like that?
And do you really have 882,000 miles on your car? Wow. |

My clock pulls out from the front by just firmly grabbing the outer ring. Then just turn the adj dial in the back. |
I used a very similar clock insert on my grandfathers mantle clock. It is a power hog. I couldn’t keep up with the AA batteries so it sits dead as it did with the original clock work

Finally finished clock conversion today. Added silver dots and new flat glass with no hole.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1605917737.jpg

Can someone elaborate on this. I want to do it. I have a battery isolater so this would be perfect.
