Request: Clear picture of dashboard Cruise Control decal for placement reference

Hi, I am planning to install a replacement cruise control decal on the dash of my '87 911. Someone removed it at some point, and I'd just like some clear photos of where the decal goes so I can install the new one properly.

Can you help?

Thank you!

Here's where it is in my '87... now if it only worked again... ?!?!?

My decal's placement is exactly the same as chrisbruck's above.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

In my case, the cruise did not work when I bought this car 7 years ago, but it was just down to the cruise control ECU under the dash being faulty. I managed to bring it back to life by opening it up and reflowing the solder joints. That worked for a while, and I had to do it again. Finally it stopped working and I wasn't able to get it going again, so I bought another module here on the parts classifieds and it works fine again.

There are some good services that people recommend around here that can refurb your ECU for a fair fee.

I know about the details but why would you put a sticker on the Porsche leather. It is a sticker!

When I bought my 1986 Targa new that was the first thing I pealed off.

It's not leather in my car, just vinyl. I think the decal actually has a cool looking design and it's part of the original charm of the car. It only cost a few bucks and can come off again in the future! I wouldn't put something on the dash that wasn't there originally though.

Here it is on my 85.

Cruise control is wonderful on road trips. Drive for 8 to 12 hours in one day on the interstates and you will wish you had it working. Mine works great.

If I thought I could get my sticker off with no evidence it was there I likely would. I figure after 35 years it is not going to come off with no evidence of having been there. Much like Unleaded Fuel Only sticker on the gas gauge, it is still there only because I see no valid reason to remove it.

Here is the main reason I leave the sticker on... I actually USE it !!

The directions are not intuitively obvious, and now that I recently got my cruise control working for the first time in the 10 years I have owned my car, I find myself checking the sticker each time I activate cruise.

Yeah, it is nice to have on trips!

I agree, the controls are not intuitive. I'm used to how it works now, as there are only 3 functions, but at first I couldn't remember exactly how it worked.

After 25 years of driving my 911 I find the cruise control as logical and intuitive as the fresh air & heater and AC controls. Or the wiper delay.

I normally just push the lever up to set it and hit the brakes to cancel it. In the picture of my dash above you can see a ball around the clock. It is to mount my GPS there. It gets it off the dash, and mostly out of the way. It is kind of in the way of the cruise. Since the GPS is mounted on that ball, it is easy to rotate it and use the cruise. It is just not an issue and the GPS gets a good clean signal.
