1972 Targa MFI Pump leaking... rebuild?
Hey all!
Helping a friend with his 1972 Targa. Its got the fuel injection system and the pump just dumps fuel when the key is turned on. Not from the 3 hose connections, but from just under the electrical plug connection. Is it possible to rebuild these? I see they are upwards of $800 plus on our host site here. The car is already not stock, so if there is an alternative method to replace this (standard fuel pump and regulator??), that would be fine too. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you! ![]() |

Can't post links to other Porsche suppliers sites here, but the Zims MFI replacement kit works well. Google it.

I would search for fuel pump repair or rebuild. Several posts on the subject showing seal sizes and sources. I have not seen anyone selling a complete repair kit. Rob

I repaired the leak in my original pump, but it started leaking again after a couple of months. The Sims replacement has been working perfectly for well over a year.

I know you've found and ordered a solution, but for other's reference, If you don't mind plumbing and mounting an "inline" style pump, a Bosch 69458 ('84-89 Carrera) works perfectly:

If I could just get this new fuel line that came with the kit to fit on the much larger fuel tank line end....! About 2 inches of space...! But it'll be worth it.

yea, those pumps are ridiculously expensive. I think they produce more PSI for the MFI then a regular pump.
