headlight adjusting screws help!

I took my headlight ring to get powder coated black and the tech cut off the headlight adjusting screws.
I tried to order them without the headlight bezel. but I can't seem to do that.
does anyone know where or what size the screws are so I can just go to ace hardware or a bolt and screw place to buy just the screws?

thanks in advance>

What headlight assembly do you have? Stock sugar scoops, or H4? Can you post a pic of what you have? I have a full sugar scoop assembly on a shelf in the garage. If that is what you have, I could measure any of the necessary screws when I get home.

They are available from Belmetric.

https://www.belmetric.com/4mm-oval-head-screws-c-563_900_1484_1272/msoval4x60ss-oval-phillips-stainless-p-11682.html

I used M4x0.7 SS nylock nuts as retainers.See below for the measurements (expressed in the number of 360 degree "turns") for the tabs that the screws engage.

Assuming the assembly was original, you wouldn't have been able to remove the original screws without damaging the threads anyway, as they use a crimped steel ring (i.e. not a nut) to retain the screw. Crimped rings clearly visible in the below pics. So I don't think the tech owes you anything.

Quoting from this thread... How to remove headlight adjusting screws H4 ...

Don't tighten the nylocks down completely against the screw or you'll lose the ability to turn the adjuster once everything is reassembled. Snug it down close enough to retain the adjuster screw, bit still allow it to rotate freely. Be careful tightening the screw as holding the assembly while doing so is awkward and there's a lot of screwing to be done... It's easy to slip and hit the painted side of the ring with the screwdriver. Power screwdriver works well in this application, but may increase the chance of slipping / damage.

I didn't take after pics, but...

I had my H4 rings done. Came out GREAT...

that will work with the L type connector.
the more usual configuration requires a 120mm screw.

If you need the 120mm screws,I think those are not manufactured anymore. that is why they started using the 60mm screws with the L type connector.
That L type connector is very easy to adapt to the headlight housing and is available from different vendors. I just bought for $16.00 a set of headlight assembly hardware kit ( the kit does 2 headlights ) that has those L connectors.
