MSD - setting timing

I have realized hat my digital timing light (Innova) does not play well with MSD ignition. I put in a recurved distributor (no vac advance) and need to set advance to 35 degrees total and 10-12 degrees initial. The problem is that there is no pulley mark for these settings. I know I have to get an analog timing light to cope with MSD but how do I set the initial and full advance with a non adjustable analog light and no pulley markings?

Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks

For a backyard down and dirty you can research or just measure your pulley diameter and then use this online calculator to print out a timing tape that has degree hash marks.
Put a mark at your desired initial and one at your desired total, and have at it with your non adjustable timing light.

Great idea. Just need to figure out how to do this with engine in car.

Measure the diameter of the pulley

Multiply by pi (3.14 is good enough)

cut a strip of paper to that length.

35 degrees is almost 36, which is 1/10 of the strip length.

Now you have a strip of paper that will show you where to put a mark on the pully.

Put a mark with a silver sharpie. Should reflect more that the base metal. Or file a small notch.
