Atlanta area 'peeps'. Tracquest driver's school at Road Atlanta in June:

hey everyone-

if you are in the atlanta area, there is going to be a great driver's school on june 2-3 at road atlanta being put on by tracquest. if you have any questions, email me at ajnitti@mindspring.com and i can forward you the details. if you go both days they're saying you'll get between 5 and 7 hours of seat time!!!!!!!!!

Is the cost worth it?
It would be my first track experience...
Also, would I need new brakes afterwards? And, my clutch has over 106k on it, should I, or shouldn't I? I love to autocross, so this could be interesting...

brad, if you compare the cost to other drivers schools, it is well worth it, considering the amount of seat time. as a comparison, i just did a drivers school in may at road atlanta with the bmwcca, and i got probably just under 4 hours of seat time for the whole weekend. if this one is offering at least 5 hours of seat time as they say (most likely more like 7!), it will be well worth the price. (if you register before May 2, the discounted early entry fee is $500 for both days or $300 for one day.)

you'd want to make sure your pads have at LEAST a 1/4 inch of pad left... if not, i'd go ahead and get some new pads for the d.e. oem pads would be fine. as far as your clutch, it's not really going to be going through any kind of abuse. (you won't be doing any off the line burnouts or heavy acceleration runs...) obviously, if your clutch is slipping, you're going to have some serious problems. i don't know the history of your clutch, but you probably know whether or not it's slipping... i am told the tracquest events are awesome for beginners because of all the instructor assistance and seat time. let me know if you'd like more details.
