Window railing / regulator

My 1978 manual drivers side window regulator finally gave out. The " two arm" type is no longer available so I had to purchase the available unit that I now find out does not match my current railing on the bottom of the glass ( different rollers setup and slot). I have purchase the new / matching railing. The question is how do you remove the old bottom railing from the window glass ? without breaking the glass? The one body shop I reached out for help was not helpful - they were scared to break the window.
