'87 Accelerator bushing help
 

I have an '87 911 and the plastic accelerator bushings failed. I know the brass replacements are what I want, but I am having trouble with the part numbers/ diagram. My accelerator lever does not match any of the diagrams I can find. Maybe I'm missing something. The diagrams show the lever to have a pin attached where mine has a sleeve attached to the lever and slides over the pin thats attached to the cluster tray. :confused: I got some bushings in and they do not fit over the rod. I did find a picture of a "930 pedal cluster" on eBay that matches what I have.

That pelican parts picture is for an early car with manual brakes. I would suggest you go to the Porsche PET for the proper part diagram. When you are in the PET section 7 should have your petal cluster. Rob

It’s a standard size accelerator bushing
901.423.253.00. This is a nylon number but it’s the same on the carburetor linkage. You just want brass

Bruce and Bob are both right. I replaced my bushings with the bronze ones from Canyon. You need 2 of them. Part #18 in the correct diagram below.

I have the correct bushings but the brass one doesn't seem to want to go over the pin. I'm trying to avoid removing the whole cluster. Is this job possible without doing that?

This is as far as I can get the bushing to go on the pin. It won't go past the tip where the swivel clip is installed.

You definitely can replace it without removing the cluster.

Most likely some metal bur is holding it back. The pin looks a little on the rough side. I'd recommend using an emory board on it and follow up with extra-fine sand paper. Feel for any roughness and smooth it out. It should slide on easily. A little bit of lithium lube will help too.

Worst case you can run a drill bit through the bushing to slightly widen it a bit after you smooth out the pin. GL

GOT IT! Forgive me for being a noob working on these things. I’m coming from building jeeps for rock crawling and “gently massaging” parts to fit usually includes my plasma cutter and welder.

I did have to open up both bushings slightly using a 5/16” drill bit and working it around the inside but they both fit snug and the pedal seems to function normal.
