alarm system question...
PO installed an Alpine alarm system, but didn't opt for the keyless entry hookup. No idea why. The system has the capability. Is there any issues with doing a keyless entry on an '88? I do have the central locking feature(button in the middle consol) I've got an alarm guy looking into it, but figured I'd ask around.

the lock/unlock trigger is a negative pulse in the 911, i haven't messed with the alpine systems in years but i'm sure they can give you a neg. pulse to operate the locks.
you'll need to look in the install manual for the alarm (if the shop didn't give it to you go get a copy) hookup is kinda simple, the easiest place to find the wires is under the hood on the drivers side of the brake booster (this is true on my 85, not sure how different the 88' is). i can check what colors they are in the car on sunday for you, if the alpine has neg. trigger outputs you'll need only to connect them to the 2 in the car and they'll work.......we need to see how the alarm performs this first though. let me know. |

Is there a way to put a keyless entry tied to the factory alarm? My factory alarm does not have that key slot on the outside of the car. It just activates and deactivates when I lock and unlock the car. Been thinking about doing keyless to save having to put the key in. Thanks oh 89 911 |

bell...thanks for the detailed info...yes, the Alpine does use neg. trigger pulse. So, that make it easier. I haven't had a chance to look for the wires you noted. Did you have a chance to find what color wires I need to look for? Thanks in advance!

got it!
OK, got it all figured out and working! For anybody interested, on the central locking wiring, BROWN/BLUE is lock, BROWN/GREEN is unlock. It's nice to have keyless entry!
