What will remove wheel weight glue?

I've ended up with several spots on my rims that have the paper/glue backing left after the wheel was rebalanced. I've tried soaking the spots in Simple Green but this doesn't work. It appears the only solution is to scrape it off, but I don't want to damage the finish. Is there a product that will disolve this glue backing without harming the finish?

I've had good success with GooGone (http://www.googone.com/) or a little paint thinner on a soft cloth.

Googone or WD-40 works well.

Do a Search!!!! It will save you time typing as it was covered last week.

PPG Acryli-Clean from your local auto paint store. It's great for everything (adheasive/tar/wax removal, paint prep, etc.), and is safe to use on most finishes.

If chemicals don't work, scrape it

I used a razor blade scraper. I used extra caution to ensure I didn't dig the corners of the blade into the rim. Came off without any problems or scratches.

If the chemicals don't work, give it a go.

Cool Take it alllll off!

I use the 3M adhesive remover to clean the old tape off my Fuchs after having them rebalanced or tires changed. The 3M works like magic and so far has done absolutely no harm to my wheels.

Good Luck!

If your wheels are clearcoated (aluminum or painted) brakeclean will work just fine and will not harm the finish at all. I worked in a tire shop and a detail shop years ago and that's all we used for tire weights, bumper stickers, dealer decals, etc. Works to remove dang near any goo, stickum, grease, etc., as long as it's not on krylon or most other poof can paints. I would test on an inconspicuous place if you're not sure what kind of paint it is. The other products by 3m, etc, work very well too, but you should always have brakeclean around.
