fuel smell

Hi all

May someone help me : I have a strong fuel smell in side the car, but no leak for the moment, it only smells fuel, not exhaust gases.

Maybe someone can post the fuel circuit (pipes, pump.....)

it happens after i (drop up)(?) the back of the car to adjust valve clearance (the engine runs well), any relation ?

what is the small transparent box just near the tank ?(inside)

Many thanks

Philippe.

The transparent box is part of the fuel vapor recovery system for the Carreras. Have you checked out all the lines and clamps in the vapor system? I don't have a diagram, but I'm sure someone can post one shorty.

Hi Philippe,

This is a somewhat common, Porsche problem. When I posted with the same fuel smell problem, I got several replies about replacing the gas cap. I thought "no way" that could solve the problem, had to be some kind of expensive, hard to do, fix. But I though that would be a place to start. Guess what, new gas cap and no more fuel smell. That was 5 years ago and still no fuel smell in the cabin. Good Luck.......

Save your self some money and just replace the gas cap gasket. PP has them for less than $3.00. Cured my gas smell.

Thanks,
Ron D

you don't tell what year you car is, but if it is a 3.2 motor check the feed and return lines by the motor, they are know to leak after time....
