ill fitting body panels, common?

Hello,

I've been looking at air cooled 911s lately and I've noticed that most seem to have not the best fitting panels, for example,
1. deck lids seem to be misaligned.
2. Doors seem to be misaligned and/or some droop (hinges I'm sure).
3. Some body panels not flush.

Is this common for the 80's 911, can these things be easily fixed with some work or signs of an accident? Obviously an accident could be the culprit.

Keep in mind, this doesn't bother me much, I'm just trying to figure out if I need to pass on a car due to these things hiding an underlying condition.

Muscle cars I've owned in the past usually required some shimming and hinges often times needed new pins and such.

Thanks,

These cars are 40+ years old and have suffered collisions or other damage. When new everything lined up nicely. I b ought my first new Porsche in 1974 and my newest Porsche is a 2017. They have all been nice fitting panels, gaps, etc.

You will also note...on SC's and older 911's that one rear wheel often extends a bit further out than the other in relation to body work...yet the vehicle tracks perfectly.
They were still hands on...hand made...not made by a machine/robot...and...I like that.
I have a friend that collects Ferrari's and when doing body work often finds one panel 1/4 inch longer than the exact same panel on the other side.....hand formed over wooden bucks....I like that too.

keep looking

true about wheels not sitting the same at the fenders.
that is why ride height is set based on relationship of the spindle centers to the torsion bars.
the seams on my 930 all line up. the doors sound incredibly tight when they close.
I had a 77s that was "lined up" too. it was a targa

you will notice the bodies flex when jacking, especially targas.
