Lic Plate Light Attaching Hardware
The LP lights on my 74 911 attach to the Black Bumperettes but the screws will not tighten and the lights vibrate out. I was thinking I could put some kind of adhesive in the holes and put the screws in hoping threads would either form or perhaps the screw would tighten enough to hold the lights in place. I'm really not sure which kind of adhesive would be the best and I may reach out to 3M for their suggestion.
Any other people with a similar problem? I at trying to reattach machine screws into the Rubber Bumperettes, but I don't see any kind of fitting for the screw to attach to. Also, my parts catalog calls for Oval Head Screws BM 3x15 but does not show any kind of mating fitting. Does the Bumperette have something for the screws to grab on to? Because mine don't and they don't look damaged. Any ideas? TIA - Larry 74 911 ![]() |

There are steel plates embedded in the rubber with threaded holes. Photos I've seen show them often rusted out. I know at least one of my lights is a bit loose because of that.
My thought was that one could cobble together a replacement plate, but it has to be done from the inside. Check out B&S for some photos. Like this one: FS: Bumperettes Mark
