964 retractable spoiler fit a 911 deck lid?
Hello. I think the answer is that it does not fit, but I happen to have a 964 retractable lid on hand. I did find by searching discussions about using a modified deck lid hinge but not if an actual 964 deck lid is required.
Has anyone here been down that path? No biggie if I have to find a 964 deck lid but that means paint (most likely). Thank you. |

The 964 spoiler will not fit on a 911 deck lid. But the 964 deck lid will fit on a 911 with modified hinges. I did that on my 911, but later sold it and went back to original.

Thank you for the reply, I will need to find a proper 964 hood.
Update: do you know how to tell the difference between the two visually by chance? Last edited by SoCal_Lynch; 11-29-2020 at 05:27 PM.. |

964 has an easily noticeable bigger opening , a recess at each side , and no grill tabs .
Autobahn in El Cajon should have a million of them .... Call 619-444-2290 . Mike will probobly be your best bet to ask for . Here’s a pic I just grabbed from Ebay after a google image search , You can see the Large opening size in this paint colour . It’s mid-Way between >1989 and 930/965 .

Yeah , I guess I broke the internet with my anger at the jim pace thread on here .
Such a pity when other car forum members worldwide are doing such a great job of not being Grand Prix AND .... BREATHE ...... Anyway , they’re normal open Saturday til around noon . Nav says around an hour from my place in Laguna iirc , but I can do it in around 45min if I set off around 9am . They will ship , but of you are able to visit And pay cash ask for mike .... I’m in that area pretty regular , but I cannot pick one up for you as I struggle for room in little German 2-seaters . Last edited by ian c2; 11-29-2020 at 07:26 PM.. Reason: Grand Prix seems somehow less offensive whilst still getting my insult across . |

This Forrest lid was the pic I wanted to post .
That color with that background really shows the size of the opening . |

do a search for "mattman". he was making the modified hinges for a long while and there is a number of threads covering the swap process. there is also a very, very old thread by tyson schmidt that shows the wiring using a autoloc auto window unit that is integrated to kill power when the resistance of the wing hitting full open or full close. the operation used a 911 window switch. id try "autoloc" as a search for the wiring.
