Mounting Fuel Vapor Tank In the Left Front Fender

I am putting my "72 911 back together again after being wrecked (by someone else) and completely stripped. I had to buy all the parts on the car either new or used. I found a used vapor tank and strap but I don't have any other mounting parts. There must be some attaching brackets, but I can't find anything in the parts manuals that show how it attaches. The fender is a repro and I am guessing the missing bracket should attach to the fender somewhere and the mounting point doesn't come on an aftermarket fender. Does anyone have a picture of the factory mounting or have any advice on making my own. All I can come up with is drilling a hole in the headlight bucket and building a new strap to wrap around to the body (I did find a hole that might be where the body side bracket attached). The car is already painted so welding anything on the fender is not an option. Any help is appreciated.

There were originally mounting points welded to the headlight bucket for the retaining strap. The one at the bottom of the first picture hooked to the retaining strap and bolted to the upper.

Thanks Ed! I figured that was the problem but I couldn't find any pictures of it. I will have to make something up.
