912 to 911 Engine Conversion
I'm rebuilding a 2.7L that I'll be putting in a '68 912 body. Long block is done and I have Weber carbs coming early next year from Paul at Performance Oriented in Salem, OR.
Onto the electrical... I've begun research into the necessary wiring modifications. My 912 has all the original wiring including the 3 that connect to the old generator. Can anyone provide any details or publications on how to correctly wire the 2.7L to the older harness? I haven't found much documentation or online info. I'll be adding the MSD ignition but I'm not sure of the other components I'll need (relays, ballast resistor, voltage regulator, etc.). I'm learning as I go. Electrical is not my area of expertise. Thanks a lot. |
I need this as well. 3.0 carbed into a 68.
Here’s what I’ve gathered so far curtesy of timmy2: “The 68 harness has all engine wiring built into it except for the alternator harness that was run to the fuse panel. I would run a #6 AWG cable from the alternator to the starter and then a 14 gauge red to the fuse panel, along with a blue for the alt charge circuit. You may also need a black and a brown run to the alternator if you need a remote voltage regulator for you alternator.” |
912 conversion question #2
Have you considered the 911 SC trailing arm conversion with some type of rear quarter panels?? |
