Removing final bids of adhesive on dash

Hi guys,
title typo - should have said 'bits', not 'bids'....
The previous owner of our '86 911 had a carpet on the dash that was attached via velcro strips. We've taken out the carpet and the velcro strips and have been able to remove most of the glue adhesive used to attach the velcro strips to the dash. But there's still some residue (or discoloring) left on the dash shown here:

What would you guys recommend we do to improve the look of the dash? Would some sort of black dye help out? Any other thoughts.

Thanks a lot and happy holidays!

If you need to still remove some glue I would try some WD-40 on a minor spot first.
There is a 3M solvent made to remove 3m carpet adhesive on the market.
I have seen it used with excellent results.
It is not readily available at hardware stores, and not in California.

Goo-gone should do it

Goof-off works well

WD 40 on rag.... best adhesive remover I've ever used...followed by a quick clean and preservative. Works very well on old wheel weight tape residue too.

I've had success with goof-off.... removes the adhesive residue - not sure about how it treats the dash material though..

I would test the Goof-off in a corner first. I seems to leave a oily residue for me. If ok I would use it with a toothbrush to get the rest of the glue off then clean off with some soap and water to remove the residue. Then treat with a interior protectant, something like CarPro PERL.

I used Goof Off on some gummy substance on my seat sliders, probably a 20 year old beverage spill, and it came right up...always recommend trying out first in an inconspicuous location.

All purpose Goo Gone spray just moved it around...

Thanks a lot, guys! I appreciate it!
