Just another early hot rod
There are two reasons for this thread. One to share my project now that there finally something to share other than a bunch of parts and a tub. The other is to ask for advice on some thing as they come up. Here is a picture progression of the project.
Started with a wrecked 70T and a 73T ex track car tub. ![]() ![]() The 70 looks ok from the outside but it had been wrecked in the front and I didn't want to build from a wrecked tub so it will donate its life so the 73 can live.

It looks like the battery boxes could use some work on the cover plates.
I would clean up the bad looking edges a bit...to make them at least straight and smooth. Other than that...good work so far...keep it up and save another one! Ah...yes...I just saw the bike...nothing like a little diversity...LOL Bob

Thanks hawg. We did clean up the battery box area. Still went with deleted boxes though. I never took pics of them finished though.

Starting assembly. Going much faster than I thought.
Pulled a new harness from a 71 and got the suspension and brakes installed. ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() 3.0 with a 915 going in it. Webers, with early style exhaust and a recurred dizzy for now. Maybe a tear down next winter for cams and pistons. She's going to have to run stock internally for now. ![]()

That brings me to my first question. I am planning to run the 3.0 with webers and a mad ignition. Do I need the SC engine harness or would it be easier to build the harness? I have thenSC harness but I understand these are getting hard to come bynsomit might be better used by someone running CIS. Also, I have an early harness for all of the fittings (ie 14 pin connector) as well as access to virtually any crimping tool available for wiring. Either way, I need a little help on getting it wired correctly. It's not really something I am comfortable risking getting wrong.

I find that when you are mixing engines and frames...it's usually easier (for me anyway) to just make a new harness.
Benefits are...new wire...better insulation...neater if you are careful...and less wires normally (stock harnesses have a lot of wiring). I guess this is my distraction...over 100 hours on the fabrication...milling machine...on the front end. ![]() Bob

I'm kind of partial to the shovels. They're like the middies. Considered to be the least reliable but with a few fixes they're solid and nothing sounds as good as a shovel.
Bob, That's a nice looking girder / Old school chopper. Kirk

Ok. I made a wiring diagram. I need a little help with where the wires connect for the MSD unit. Also what are the functions of the intermediate unit and the temp time switch? Are they needed?
Thanks, Kirk

She's patiently waiting for the engine and trans. Would be tonight but I forgot to order the rubber grommets for the oil cooler.
