engine back in, speedo not working

Help please. I just put my engine back in (88 targa) and everything seems fine. Had an oil leak. Went for a drive and noticed the speedometer wasn't working. Did I miss putting someting back or did I break something? Appreciate your suggestions. Thanks. Larry

Your speedo is electronic. Did you reconnect the harness connectors in the tunnel by the shift coupler?

If you installed and reconnected the speedo sensor (on the top driver side of the tranny and the brown and green wires in the tunnel) and it still does not work, check that the sensor is installed properly with the cut out facing down. If this doesn't work, replace the sensor as they are known to go bad.

I installed mine upside-down once, got all baffled and bought a new sensor unnecessarily. You may have installed it wrong side out. Make sure the "pretty side" is against the transmission.
