L Signal won’t work when lights are on
The left turn signal works until I turn on the headlights.. when headlights are on the turn signal stays eliminated and does not blink. I switched a few wires then ...with the headlights on, the signal will blink BUT the side maker light blinks as well. ????
Is this a possible cause—- The side-marker housing ground and power connection wires maybe inverted on the turn signal housing. Would that cause this turn signal and side marker light to both flash? |
Yes, that is the likely cause for both to flash.

ill check it..im sure your are right. Brutal!!
I had put in the side marker recently and knowing what a pain to reach the 2 connections on the turn signal, I was hoping it wasn't them!!!! Thanks

Wires inside the signal housing need to be swapped. Or inside the headlight housing.

I swapped thrm
I tried every combo of the wires in the headlight housing. Please see the results of doing that in my initial post. That is why I am wondering about the ground and power in the signal housing being incorrectly switched.

Check your ground connections. A weak ground will cause the lower current lamp to operate incorrectly as the higher-current device is consuming more current from the ground point.

This has to come down to the way you have the turn signal wired, as the wiring to the side marker is straightforward. See photos below. Make sure you have the ground on the back of the the turn signal bulb housing, which is the combination of a brown wire and a white wire in a single connector, connected to the flange on the housing and not one of the spade connectors. The single black/white wire and the combination of a grey/red wire and a white wire go to the two spade connectors on the housing. Doesn't matter which one. The white wires then connect to the spade connectors on the housing that supply power and ground to the side marker. You just have to make sure you hook up ground to ground and power to power. I've also attached a snip from the wiring diagram for reference.

Black wire with a tracer is the turn signal.
Grey wire with tracer is the running lamp. And brown is ground. The white jumpers should only be on the brown and grey wires. |
Thanks everybody very helpful. It seems after having put the wires from the marker to the wrong spade connectors on the signal housing, I switched them again and now it works!!
