Question Removing rear wheel studs?

How difficult is it to remove the rear wheel studs on an 85 930 Turbo? I have the drive shafts removed already. Could someone outline the steps and give me an idea of the difficulty? Any special tools needed?

Thanks

I just did this last week on my '85 carrera. I used the method of removing the e-brake cable and pushing each stud one at a time - through the hole left be removing the e-brake cabe in lieu of removing the hub and doing them all on the bench. This is how I did it.

1. Remove the caliper.
2. Remove the rotor.
3. disconnect the e-brake cable (remove the cotter pin, 10-mm bolt, and spring mechanism)
4. Coat the studs with a pen. lubricant.
5. line up stud w/ hole and tap out with a big hammer.
6. Insert new stud.
7. Stack washers on the new stud (wheel side of the hub) and get a steel lug nut to help pull the new stud into the socket...Don't use the aluminum lug nuts.
8. Replace everything.

SK,

That's good news, I was afraid I was going to have to pull the hub. I appreciate the step-by-step, I’ll give it a shot tonight.
