Rear wiper keeps running
Hi,
I decided to tackle my always running rear wiper, but need some help. I have a Porsche 911 SC from 1980. The wiper is always wiping, the switch doesn't do anything. So in the past the red wire was pulled, so it will never run :) This is how the wiper motor is connected: 31 - brown 53a - red 31b - brown white 53 - red black The red wire has always power, it think that's correct, but I can't find any electric schema of the rear wiper (if you know, please let me know where to find it! ). The red-black wiper only has power if the rear wiper switch is turned on. This makes sense, because I guess that red is used to return the wiper to the start-position after putting it off (via the switch or by pulling the ignition key). So it looks like that my wiper motor doesn't stop once the wiper is in the start-position, but keeps running. Like a sliding contact which stopped working. Is there a write up / howto about checking and fixing the internals of the wiper motor? Or does anyone has an idea how to fix this? I added 2 pictures for information. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1609611761.jpg The motor itself: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1609611761.jpg |
I have no pictures, but the switch that powers the wiper parking circuit is in the wiper motor assembly, under the cover. It's a pretty simple system, if you pull the motor cover off you should be able to see how it is supposed to work.

Open the motor box and see if the spring that is connecting 2 small arms is still there.
I believe that spring control the stop function. |
Thanks! I'll open the motor soon.

I checked this afternoon. The spring is there, connecting the 2 arms, it looks original.
There's some kind of magnet disconnecting the red wire, then the motorspeed decreases, but then it reconnects and the engine turns again. See also the video in this url: Video So I expect that there's an issue somewhere at that, but I don't know how it should work. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1609685177.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1609685306.jpg |
I have the feeling that the magnet isn't working correctly or that the connectors are bent. Can anyone post a photo or video how it looks on their side? Then I can check why the wiper doesn't stop at the 'start position'
