Unhappy 86 911 hard start and idle surge

I recently replaced the cap/rotor and plugs for a tune up. Car runs great, went down for gas at BP, got gas, left and the car dies and will not start. Finally got it started after 15 minutes or so and it runs like crap. Now it's real hard to start and won't idle. I was thinking bad gas, so I drained the gas via the FP hose, cleaned the fuel screen(27mm allen acessed one) installed new fuel filter and it still is the same, so much for bad gas. It also smokes when it finally starts now just for 20-30 seconds, I think it's from cranking it so much before starting. Any suggestions?

Did you check all the connections, cap, rotor, plaugs, to see if something came loose? Make sure all connections are good, the rotor is seated properly, and the cap is on tight.

If one wire was bad would it cause this? I did double check the cap/rotor, seemed ok. Took car to C&G perf. today, hope for the best.
