Upper valve cover warped
Hi,
After valve adjustment new oil and gaskets the car runs fantastic. One thing I hoped to fix is minor leaks from the valve covers. Now that everything is clean I realized the leaks are from the upper valve covers as the lower are upgraded turbo. I noticed pitying on the surface and when put on flat surface the covers don’t sit flat. The host sells nee oem for 475 usd each. Can my old ones be grinned to flat?

I've seen shops put the lowers on a supported glass surface (flat table) with fine sand paper and gently move the cover for/aft until an even surface shows by an even rub/contact trail .
I suspect it depends on the amount of pitting and uneven surface but worth a try aye.

As above. Did mine about 6 months ago. Used left over piece of smooth granite and used roll type sandpaper that hVe adhesive backing, I use this on my long sanding boards for body work. Amazon others sell it. I started with 120, 400 then 600.

While sanding use a figure 8 pattern so grooves don't develop.

Find some shop with a belt sander or you'll be rubbing it 'til the cows come home.

The upper covers on my '72 were not only warped and pitted, but also cracked. Check them carefully for cracks before resurfacing the ones you have.
I bought a pair of used covers on eBay that had been freshly resurfaced for about $175 or so.

Most machine shops have a surfacing table of some sort. My magnesium intake was warped and they flattened that in under 30 seconds.
