Just got curb rash removed from Fuchs

Done locally in Seattle by Fosters, $50 per wheel, turned around in 2 days.

They did a nice job, but had to remove the anodizing on the outer lip. Hand sanded the lip to blend in with the anodizing. Could not tell from more than a foot away and looks kinda of cool close up. Sort of a brushed steel look.

Certainly looks better than the rash.

Gives me hope, Alf.

Two of my 15x7 Fuchs look a little like that thanks to some careless owner in the car's past. Not the direct-PO, though, who is a Pelican member... ;)

Alf,

Fosters does decent work, now keep your rims away from curbs! Are you going to have your rims polished?

Harlan
The black centers are really growing on me, i am going to keep them this way for now.

Contact information for Foster's would be appreciated. I scraped a curb at the drive through teller window yesterday.

Why does the rest of the lip look pitted/weathered in the 'after' picture? Just lighting?

Wow very nice job dude ;)

The business is no more. However, Google also revealed these guys to me: http://www.DependableWheel.com . Anyone familiar with them? They are another wheel shop in Renton. Looks like they are "Foster's" also. Wonder if there is a relation or perhaps they moved & renamed...

You should have had them do away with the rest of the anodizing, the brushed look looks 10X's better.

Doesn't the anodizing add strength to the wheel?

The anodizing might only be 0.001" thick so cant see it adding strength to the wheel.

I did that by hand on my lips, and I don't know how thick the anodizing is (seemed to be more than .001 though), but that stuff is a tough protection and I wouldn't remove it "just because". It took me hours of sanding to remove it with progressive grits. Mother's polish is what I used for the final polish, and hit the lips (only) occasionaly to keep them looking that way...Vaseline for the anodized portion.
