40IDA idle air carb sync.
Greetings
What are you guys using to dial in the 40 ida idle air bypass screws? Can the STE or Uni-syn. give enough resolution for this setting? Tempted to just seat and run back 1/4 turn and or seat and don't back off and let it go. Does it make that much difference ? Note: based on linkage disconnected and set per bank/ throat at throttle body.

I'm not sure if this applies to webers but maybe it can. I have two BMW motorcycles, one with Dellorto and one with Bing carbs. Both have a idle speed screw and a idle mixture screw. With the idle mixture screw, I adjust to where the engine runs the fastest.
To adjust the idle speed I use either mercury or oil manometer or a grok harmonizer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvZQrhZ6eBQ I don't like the Uni-syn tool because I can't synch the carbs in the transient between idle and partial open throttle. |

the idle by-pass are best for syncing differing intake rates on a single bank. if the banks are differing from side to side the linkage is the best way to sync the two sides. you really can't do any tuning without the linkage in place in my experience(or lack there of).
