Good news and black smoking bad news.
Hi guys,
The good news is i got the new rear wing and ive fitted it so not long till i can paint her. here's a pic ![]() ![]() But ive noticed alot of black smoke since she's been stood. What can be causing this?

Haven't a clue, but that car looks like it will be one evil turbo when complete.

The smoke may be due to oil creeping past the pistons over the time it has sat. Air cooled engines have bigger tolerances so are more prone to this. Being a flat engine aswell means seapage is possible.

Be VERY careful about the particulate you are creating when sanding and using any bondo material. The stuff is combustible and I know of many stories of hot manifolds/header pipes causing spontaneous combustion and the engine area going up in flames. No joke.
Wash down the area thoroughly and have a fire extinguisher handy when you start a car post-body work. A word to the wise. John
