To all here, a big thanks!
I just wanted to give a shout out to our Host, this Forum, and its many members. What an absolute pleasure to enjoy a resource such as this for our P-car pursuits. The compendium of knowledge here is truly without equal. There is rarely a day when I visit that I don’t identify with a member’s problem. Identical to what I am currently facing or it is on my to do list. Some members are innovative, some authoritative, some well-educated by the school of hard knocks, but almost without exception they are willing to share their experience freely with us all. I have only been here for 7 months now. I wish this Forum had existed when I had my first 911, but it was far newer, I had all work done at a dealer, and had the cash to support the “habit”. Our current car is a match to the first, but this time I have delved willingly into the knowledge base here, and my wife and I have done most all, except the heavy work.
I have learned there are places my 6’ 3” frame and associated appendages will not fit, tasks I can no longer accomplish, but my wife willingly can. I wish I could say I exhibited and learned patience, but it would be a lie. I am the same “see the hill, take the hill” personality I have always been. I have learned firsthand the quirks of German engineering, and have met tasks I would rather never do again. There is a satisfaction in bringing systems back to life, forensically identifying and removing the PO’s technological “enhancements,” and trying to just understand “why”? Some of our work has far exceeded the original, in both quality and execution, some NLA parts have required aftermarket adaptations, though not “concours,” technically and functionally equivalent. I have been amazed beyond words with the condition of most the cars systems, the chassis and body condition, and so much more. In the end, I really wanted to express our sentiment regarding this community and its members, this resource, and thank all of those who help every day. During this time of Covid, the car has focused us into a positive learning/doing experience, all because of each of you! 1986 911 M491 Cab, Guards Red/Black, Sold 28K miles 1986 911 M491 Cab, Iris Blau Metallic/Navy, current 62K miles

I can echo these thoughts as well...an invaluable resource for me since this car is my first air cooled.
Cheers!

Thanks for the kind words. I didn't list all the fine people who gave reached out to assist me, but I know Gerry, Ivan, Mike, Dan, Sal, and Jeff among the many should be given credit.
