911 Door hinge backing plate stripped
Hello Everyone,
I have run into a situation with my '72 restoration I have not seen before - one of the three threaded M8 holes in the top hinge backing plate is completely stripped. The plate itself, inside the hinge pillar, cannot be removed without cutting that I can see. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, how did you resolve it? I am thinking of cutting a slot in the side of the pillar, but open to suggestions. Thanks ![]()

I would use a helicoil. I would use the two good threaded holes and torque down the plate and drill out the bad threads with the specified drill.
