Found a set of replacement mirrors for these, new old stock
150$ shipped http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1617284157.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1617284157.JPG |
I put mine on this weekend and really like them. Great vintage look, easy to adjust, and better visibility than the stock round ones.

Would you mind posting a pic of the right side door so I can see where you mounted them. I have a set about to go on my car and haven't had a chance to work out were to best drill the holes.
Car looks great, those mirrors are a nice addition. Thanks! Bill Quote:

Thanks! That helps a lot. Right side looks to be three inches or so rearward of where the driver's side is mounted?
I will post pics for sure, waiting for the car to come back from the body shop. Plan to head over there in the next week or two to get the mirror holes drilled in the doors. |
Yes, they didn't wind up in the same spot side to side. I worked with the paint guy to place the original round mirrors for my height and sitting position, and fortunately the same basic location worked even better with the Talbots. I did have to drill a new hole for the back angled bolt.

Too bad the 333s have such narrow bases vs. the big holes in the doors for the stock flag mirrors on an SC. I've welded the holes up for projects like this before, but I'm trying not to get too extreme with mods to the hard parts of this SC; debating options here...I may have to sell the 333s. |
Do they make a repro of the Talbot Flag Mirror?
Question, do you think these would fit in the area of my existing 72 D/S mirror holes? Any pics or measurements of the holes needed to install. Car was just painted- no issue drilling as needed as long as original holes covered by the new base
Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalkhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f5d2859ce3.jpg |
The position of your holes looks like what I started with in changing out Durants for the Talbots. There are several different Talbot mounting schemes -- special sheet metal screws, U-bolts (300), J-bolts (333), and coined bolts (303).
Mine have the J-bolts. I had to slightly enlarge the door's front hole and drill a new hole roughly halfway between the existing holes. They were very tricky to get in the right position on the driver's side because there is only a tiny amount of space between the inner and outer door skins in the mounting location. |
