72 911 dash speaker question
I've installed a two speaker replacement dash speaker in my 72 911...it has a felt cover over the speaker cones (it came trimmed around the mounting screw holes so I assume it is meant to stay in place), and then the original dash speaker cover seems to be a further point of sound restriction even with its many holes. Would appreciate hearing from the audiophiles as to (a) would it be ideal to remove the felt cover, and (b) would you agree the factory dash speaker cover could benefit from a re-design which I'm happy to do since its a 'hot rod'. Photos attached. Thank you.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1611266992.jpg

felt's going to mute treble, as will those holes. Since you have a hotrod, why not simply install door speakers? sound (and stereo separation) will be FAR better (imo)

I had the same idea and did just finish door speaker installs. Since I already had these dash speakers, I thought I'd retain them. I'm using a 2 channel amp, so the four speakers will be connected together. I will listen to the system with just the door speakers, and then connect the dash speakers and listen again...they may not add much. Thank you.
