Need Opinions.....

I built a new exhaust and because of space constraints I am limited to a short, small tailpipe. This causes a higher pitch with a raspy sound to it.

I was thinking about fabricating a 3” tailpipe (longer with deeper tone) and having it exit out the side of the splash panel. It would be flush and not stick out.

Please tell me what you think.

You can see the short tailpipe in the photo.

The heat from the exhaust may have adverse affects on the paint in and around the area your proposed pipe would exit.

I don't get it. What's getting in the way and why can't you go out a cutout in the rear valence?

The tailpipe does go out the cutout right now but it ends up only being 10" long and only using a 2 1/4" inch pipe because I can't bend a 3" tight enough to go out the back. This causes a higher pitch and I want it to be deeper. The 3" pipe would make it deeper.

This gives you a great opportunity to practice your welding and ability to fabricate something, but really are you going to get a product that is any better than what is already out there in the market?

Well if you really just want opinions: I would never cut into a body panel to make an exhaust system work. Remove, maybe. Cut, never...
