Cheap Amazon Crimper for Beru Plug Wires
For a while, the big obstacle for Motronic 911 owners trying to replace their spark plug wires with bulk wire was that the Beru crimper to attach the M3 screw terminals cost something like $350.
Found a crimping tool that will work on Amazon for $34. Search "H1 Crimper". The jaw inserts are available standalone if you have a crimper tool that will accept them. Just redid my set for $25 in bulk solid core wire and ~$20 in Beru M3 threaded spark plug wire ends (available from our host). The Amazon crimper won't crimp the skinny metal part to the wire, but that's easy enough with a normal wire crimper. Obviously the Clewett wire set is a great deal given that DIY wires are a bit more time-consuming to build. And if your Beru ends are in bad shape, you'll either have to buy new ones or hollow them out and replace with conductor rod (Rebuilding Beru plug connectors). Mine all tested okay and looked fine so I opted to reuse them. But it's a way to save a lot of cash, especially if you've got more than one Motronic vehicle. 7mm solid-core wire is something like $1.25 a foot on ebay and the stuff I got was made in the USA. (I know that Kingsbourne sells bulk Beru wire, but it's really expensive). Bonus is that by using 7mm wire you can reuse the old Beru wire holders if you still have em.
