ignition wire install

Just got a set of Magnecore 8.5mm wires for my 80SC. In previous threads, people drilled out the wire holders to fit the larger diameter. Looked at mine and they appear to be rubber and don't come apart. Any suggestions?

Vince

You are in the same boat that I was.

I took a razor and sliced through the rubber and then reused them. If you slice through in the right spots you will not notice the cuts.

Did mine a year ago and they still look fine.

Vince,

Use either WD40 or a thick solution of dish soap and water to lubricate the boots so that they will slide off the wire. I used an eye glass screw driver to get the lubricant between the wires and the boot. They then slide right off. Use that same solution and you will be able to slide the wires through the holders. It a lot more effort than cutting the holder though, so it's up to you to decide whether you want to do it that way.

Magnecors made a huge difference over the original 30 year old wires.

Vince,

I posted the same question here awhile ago. I could not re-use the adapters without cutting them. I gave up and got some red separators from a local store that match the Magnacore red.

Have fun..

Most of the Magnacor 8.5 thickness is from the insulation jacket. The "core" is much smaller. How many have used the 7mm Magnacors? Can't be *that* much worse than 8.5...and yet still much better than stock, especially regarding the Beru connectors.
