Porsche Crest Cabrio guys - how do you treat..

... the rear plastic window, to obtain as-new visibility through it?

Mine (or should I say - mine-to-be, since I'm picking up the car in 3 days ) has a somewhat "milky", or "clouded", look to it, and I hope that this is fixeable, because rear visibility isn't that great as it is right now - not to mention the fact that it doesn't look very nice..

So - can rear visibility be substantially improved by using some miracle-product, or am I looking at replacing the rear window (does anyone know how much they cost by the way, for an 86 911)?

Rear cab Window

I don't know if this will work for you but I use to have a soft top on a jeep wrangler and I had a bad time trying to pass inspection due to the poor visiblity. My suggestion is to use a buffer with a liquid wax like carnauba by mother's. Now be careful not to over buff or you will end up with a blurry window.

I would check with several interior /headliner companies. The previous owner of my car got just the rear window replaced for $160.00

I have tried several of the polishes in the past - made it easier to see thru - but still blury

There are alot of products to help with scratches. The "milky" thing is tough. Get it replaced.

Having owned a soft rear window targa and numerous convertibles the best products I've found are Meguiars. Use both the Clear Plastic Polish #10 and the Clear Plastic Detailer #18. There about $6 and last a long time.

The cloudyness or milkyness of the plastic may not come off as it just get that way with age. If you get a new window installed make the installer uses the polish prior to installing the window. Recently we replaced by wifes BMW window on her '95 325C and within one month the rear window was foggy. It took me two (2) hours to polish the protective film applied at the factory off the plastic . It is now crystal clear but getting it off was a *****. It would have been a 10 minute job with it layed flat on a work bench.

Hope this helps
