East Wambango probably. Just opened up a fresh pack of 3.2 rod bearings and holy crap, dark areas and multiple lines that looked like factory screw ups across all the shells. They felt less than smooth. Worst glyco bearings I've ever seen.

bearings
I have a set of Kolbenschmidt standard 2.0 bearings.German made in 1998.Old school.I also have 2 sets of ACL made in Australia. The K/S bearings were always very durable and better quality than the Glyco.

ACL Bearings
Quote:
I have them running in a few motors but have not stripped a set down yet. They are quite affordable. Maybe $180 AUD or about $125 USD for a set of Rod Bearings. Lots of the japanese guys run them in very powerful cars, so I can only assume they are a quality item.

Glyco was acquired by the Federal Mogul company in the late 90’s, it’s a massive company with 56,000 employees. Bearings are made everywhere from Brazil to Poland. Federal Mogul has their hands in everything. Probably why the bearings suck these days,

I have used the ACL race series bearings on plenty of non Porsche builds. They are very high quality with repeatable measurements across the bearing slippers. The last engine I did was a Toyota 4AGE 9200rpm engine in a race car - still going strong 5 years later. If they made mains for Porsche air cooled also, I think they would be a great alternative to the Glyco which are know to be poor quality now days.
