Porsche Crest FuchsUSA vs Porsche OEM vs renovated in 2022?

Hi all,

I'm in the middle of renovating my 1987 911 Targa, and I plan to do the usual swap of moving the stock 16x7s to the front and getting a set of 16x8s for the rear.

In 2022 and with the availability of new Fuchs wheels from Fuchs USA and Porsche Classic, I'm honestly in doubt of what right move here.

As I see it, I have three options:
1. New set of Fuchs from https://www.fuchsfelgeusa.com/product/16-inch-fuchs-wheels/
2. New set of Fuchs from Porsche. https://shop.porscheusa.com/porscheoem/porsche_classic_/911_g/wheels_brakes/91136211703.html?alink=1
3. Renovated original OEM wheels from a 930.

Price-wise, 1) and 2) are about the same, and 3) are the most expensive based on what renovated wheels are going for on Bring A Tailor.

What's the choice here? What would you pick?

Thanks!

/k

I'd go new Fuchs and not look back. New is new and from what I understand some of the newer ones from Fuchs are a bit lighter than the originals.

I have a set of the Fuchsfelge wheels. Love ‘em. I’d rather have new wheels than 30-year-old ones. I was lucky that the Fuchsfelge ones were a lot cheaper than the Porsche-stamped ones when I bought them.

New, wheels are consumables, given the pot holes and similar hazards they've been driven over.

I also have an 87 Targa. I purchased a new set of Fuchs when they were first released. I’ve been very happy with them!

What ever you end up with, I would pick the 9 X 16 for the rear.

Cheers

Cool! Which sizes did you go with?

Tell me more. Why 9" over 8s? Based on what I can read 9s have the same outer offset, and tires are hard to find :/

+1. They look great in that width on the rear.

The difficulty in finding tire sizes was what caused me to go to 17" wheels. Very hard to find tires in the manufacturer you want in sizes over 225 x 16. Now, that's just me, others will tell you they can find anything you want. . . The 9" wheels do look much better on the rear of the G models.
