slant nose LED headlight ideas

I am considering replacing the heavy steel headlight buckets and mechanisms in a pair of slant nose fenders. Why? Benefits I am seeking include light weight, reduced complexity and increased solidity and reliability. If done right, I might even buy back some space for the oil cooler by removing most of the welded-in bucket on the right.

There appear to be a lot of strip-mounted LED kits of likely sufficient strength to serve as at least low beams. These could be mounted transversely across the top inner rear of the residual bucket area and covered with plexiglass.

Anyone done this? Thanks

Yes, I am seeing some such items out there. There is a good chance I will have to draw from ideas elsewhere or just come up with a custom solution.

But, I'm hoping someone has tackled this on a 911 and can share their experience. There are at least two aspects that need to be gotten right: the lighting itself, and how to create a polycarbonate cover that looks acceptable.

Got you. As to the covers - try a guy named Marco Antonio on Facebook (Marco Antonio Garage) he makes some stuff for 944 which may be useful

That is basically the idea. Looks like those setups have the downturn at the front like a 924/944, whereas the 911 slant nose fenders are essentially flat. Will see what he has.

This is a terrible idea. Just because they make light does in no way make them headlamps.

Utilize Truck-Lite or JW Speaker LED headlamps if you end up doing something like the suggested 944 lamps.

Yeah, that's pretty basic, buddy. Of course, one wouldn't want to use lights of insufficient output and/or inappropriate pattern. Thus, the desire to find folks who have had acceptable results with a particular approach.
