Flywheel Seal - Gap on outer lip
Just replaced the Flywheel Seal with an Elring. Went fairly well, but I notice that the outermost lip that faces outward does not actually touch the crankshaft. I can easily pass a piece of paper between it and the crank.
I assume this is the dust seal that keeps stuff "out" of the engine rather than in, but shouldn't it touch the crank hub?

Post a picture.........
A close up shot of the oil seal would help. Thanks.

The sealing lip is beyond that flap.

Understood...is it normal though for the dust lip to have this much gap?
