A/C Upgrade

Anyone know what brand/manufacturer this AC system is in the pic. I don't think that was the factory installed/stock unit on a 1975 Carrera right?

I’ve got documentation somewhere . . . I’m looking

EDIT: VPC not URO. . . I had a brain hiccup.

MY911S 02-14-2021 04:20 PM

Thanks RN! I have the same and needed the vents.

RNajarian 02-14-2021 05:11 PM

Thank you sir.

Maybe my memory is foggy. The Dealer installed A/C system is Coolaire. Another brand to research is Ccccool. Here is some more info.

I know I have the info on the vents somewhere. . .

Looks like a VPC.
Clean looking interior by the way.

For replacement VPC style vent louvers

Ok Charlie checked in. . . his louvers are the way to go. There are other brands out there but they simply don’t fit. Don’t ask how I know.

^ Typo perhaps? We offer several A/C components, but no systems.

darrin 02-16-2021 10:07 AM

bet he meant VPC (Volkswagen Products Corp) and not URO -- were you guys even doing business in the mid 1970s?

RNajarian 02-16-2021 11:15 AM

You gentlemen are correct. I had URO on the brain because I was looking at a taillight assembly 5 minutes earlier.

I stand corrected and apologize for the confusion.

kuehl 02-16-2021 12:03 PM

No need to apologize. I thought you meant

URO = User Read Out

Or, maybe it was

Uncast Remote Object, or

Unrestricted Operations conducted on the other side of the border

Good question - not until about ten years later as APA Industries. The URO Parts brand was created in the early 2000's.

"Founded in 1984 by car enthusiast Barry Seeman, A.P.A. Industries, Inc. initially produced a small line of Mercedes-Benz accessories that were advertised in Hemmings Motor News and other well-known publications. Realizing retail sales of the niche products couldn't keep up with minimum production runs, a key company decision was made to take over manufacturing and sell products on a wholesale basis."

Found an old thread :)
