Source for 2 pin connectors?
 

Would anyone know a source for these OEM 2 pin connectors?
I’ve searched based on the part number, even dealership, and have not been able to locate a source. Any help is appreciated.

Do you need that exact connector or can you just replace the entire unit.

I’m really trying to keep things as original as possible. I know in can get current Molex and AMP connectors from McMaster, but I’m holding out hope that these are available somewhere.

I wanted to keep it original also....found some on Mouser electronics. I bought a small quantity of them to keep on hand. See PIC.

There are other sources of these pins on the forum...if you dig further.

For removal...I highly recommend getting an AMP 305183 tool...not expensive and works great! ( especially on mirror connectors) I also use an ENGINEER PA-20 crimper at the 2.3mm setting

You should be able to see the Mouser part numbers from the PIC...let me know if you have trouble.

I see the pins on Mouser, but are the plastic housings as well?
My issue is that one of mine has melted.

That’s a joke I can appreciate. (In my book, that and a bunch of other little stuff would only be 1/2 point.😉) Funny thing is the D/S connector for the washer jet heater - that’s what that plug is for- has blue paint on it too! Makes you wonder.🤔

Both these nylon connector housings are available from our host...you just have to enter the Porsche part number to find them.

Male housing part number is 171-971-999A

Female housing part number is 171-971-998A


How did I come to learn about these connector part numbers?

I had a "Carnage Melting" situation with a 2-pin connector happen to me also.....Mine was a "2- pin connector cross up" between the power door lock circuit and the rear window defogger at the center console on my 1986 Targa. This burned some wires in my front harness and filled the passenger compartment with smoke. The result was a 3 week effort for me to pull out and separate each conductor of that harness to make the repairs. That "Carnage connector" is now mounted and hanging on the wall of my shop. I attached a pic of my connector and the plywood platform I had to build into the frunk just to repair the harness....

I tried 3-4 other tools for a sideview mirror harness connector job. None of them worked. Super frustrating. Enter 305183 and it was easy peasy.
