Seek & ye shall find.....

For some strange reason I got a major hair up my a*se to get my cruise control running before the six hour drive to Mid Ohio tomorrow. Its never run since I've owned the car - the cable was broken when I bought it.

Made a new inner cable with $5 components from the bike store. Test drive ...... nothing! Found the definitive cruise control trouble shooting list on a search [luv this board] and was about to dive in the deep end. Something drove me to take a long hard look at the servo first. GUESS WHAT??

The vacuum line was disconnected - floating around behind the servo, but not connected. I've had a built in vacuum leak forever - probably since I rebuilt the engine. Plugged it up, and the cruise control works fine.

Fixed it, AND fixed a lurking vacuum leak. Feels goooood.
C'mon Mid Ohio!!

Cruise Control Hunt

Speaking of cruise controls, does any one else have a "hunt" on theirs, that is, an up-down speed change of around 3-4 MPH during 65 MPH cruise?

Tim,
Only a short test last night - will know more about how it runs after today's drive to MO.

Ron,
I'm running the red gauge LEDs now - they are nice. Trying to get some longer term testing done before I'm confident that everything is right.
Sorry we missed you at Hershey - a bunch of us hung out around the mens room at noon hoping you had got the message to meet us there.

Saw that post - PET shows the bulbs as halogen, but no wattage rating. The instrument light harness is very light gauge, so fitting higher wattage bulbs is a risky path. Would probably require an replacing the wiring to handle higher current. Its an interesting thought though - halogen bulbs are more efficient than incandescent.
